I started my Blood Angels force for Aeronautica/Legions Imperialis for two reasons.
Firstly, after spending a pain staking amount of time painting hazard stripes on 8mm scale Iron warriors, I wanted to have a go at speed painting an army with a simple colour scheme.
Secondly, none of my friends play epic scale war games, so if I ever hope to get a game going on the table top, I’d need to provide prospective opponents with an army to play with.

When Horus ordered the Blood Angels to cleanse the Signus Cluster, much of the legion rallied to the call and joined their Primarch on the campaign. However, the message never reached the 9th expedition fleet who, at the time, were persecuting a campaign against an unknown xenos species amongst the halo stars.
The 9th expedition fleet returned to Imperial space to resupply some time shortly after the drop site massacre at Istvaan V, only finding out about the great betrayal when they intercepted an Iron Hands vessel fleeing the conflict. Enraged by the betrayal, and unable to make contact with friendly forces, the expedition commanders set about persecuting a campaign of vengeance. Upon locating a minor forge world held by the Iron Warriors, the 9th expedition fleet struck with the fury of an angel scorned.
