Combat Doctrine
Craftworld Fiannaid-Baharr specialises in high speed combat across two disciplines; hit and run, which speaks for itself and needs no description, and what they call “Suithshad” – The dance of spears. This approach is called upon when a foe must be eliminated immediately, situations where hit and run tactics won’t achieve their goals. Application of this discipline involves the use of concentrated fire power from aspect warriors constantly on the move, over whelming the target whilst making accurate return fire near impossible.
The craftworld rarely deploys in force. Instead they operate as groups called “kerun wea” – hunting parties – that operate through out the galaxy for extended periods of time, some times spanning centuries.
Fiannaid-Baharr forces are primarily made up of jet bikes supported by aspect warriors who ride into battle aboard fast moving transports. Where heavier fire support is required, each kerun wea can call upon their own extensive wings of aircraft, including nightwings, phoenix bombers and wraithfighters to provide cover and take out hard points on the battlefield.
Painting Technique
Armour and bodywork
- Start with any areas you want to be yellow and apply 2 or three coats of Averland Sunset. You shouldn’t need to thin it too much as it’s fairly thin out of the bottle.
- Base any areas that will be blue with two thin coats of Thousand Sons Blue.
- Layer up on the blue with Ahriman Blue, this will need thinning down and a couple of coats.
- Use Nuln Oil only in the recesses.
Soul Gems, Eye Lenses and Windows
- Paint the whole area with Xereus Purple.
- Add a layer of Genestealer Purple, ensuring to leave some Xereus Purple around the outside edges untouched.
- Add a thinned down layer of Kakophoni Purple, this time leaving the edges of the Genestealer Purple visible as well.
- Add a small dot or streak of thinned down White Scar in the centre.
- Apply Druchii Violet over the entire area being painted to tie it all together.
